Assistant Director, Reporting Swarthmore
The Assistant Director will contribute to producing strategic, value-added technology solutions for end-users to meet organizational challenges. The Assistant Director supports the Advancement staff in technical systems used by the division and creates queries, reports, and data visualization for staff, College leadership, and College volunteers. Additionally, this position develops documentation and training, including written, video, and live sessions, for colleagues in order to make technology and data accessible to the end users. Through this work, the Assistant Director acts as a key partner in the strategic planning and effective operation of fundraising and engagement programs at Swarthmore College.

The Assistant Director, Prospect Research discovers, analyzes, synthesizes, summarizes, and distributes information in order to increase the identification, engagement, and solicitation of prospects by Advancement staff and College leadership. Associate Residential Manager Swarthmore
Reporting to the Residential Manager, the Associate Residential Manager provides customer service and oversees sanitation in the Dining Center. The manager ensures that proper cleaning and maintenance standards are met consistently. The Associate Residential Manager is responsible for hiring, scheduling, coaching, and training utility staff. In partnership with the Director and Associate Director, sets performance expectations and ensures performance and customer service expectations are met. The Associate Residential Manager ensures proper inventory is maintained, small wares associated with the serving lines are outfitted correctly.

Cook (Part-Time) Swarthmore
As a member of the Dining Services department, the Culinary Associate will work in any of the following stations depending on the schedule or need of the department roles: Cook, Pizza Cook, Commissary or Baker. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, having a passion for food, enjoying being part of an energetic team and the opportunity to make a difference in the student’s dining experience on Swarthmore’s campus. Ensuring the timely meal production for a college dining program under the direction of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef. Preps ingredients and cooks or bakes menu items according to standard recipes. Ensures that food production meets the departmental standards of quality, taste, creativity, presentation, and variety. Responsibilities include assisting with execution of menu items, food safety and the proper sanitation of all kitchen equipment. This is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week during the academic year (August-May).
Postdoctoral Researcher Swarthmore
This NSF-funded position is for an interdisciplinary research project aimed at investigating how short-range forces generate long-range order in extreme tissue deformations using Hydra as an experimental system. Hydra is uniquely suitable for in vivo biomechanics studies due to optical transparency and amenability to chemical, physical, and genetic perturbations. Its simple anatomy makes it amenable to mathematical modeling. This position combines both experiments and modeling. The position is research focused but offers options for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Thus, this position is especially well-suited for individuals interested in a career at a primary undergraduate institution. It will provide opportunities for gaining teaching experience and guidance in developing a competitive research program amenable to undergraduate research. It also provides plenty of avenues to interact with faculty, postdocs, and undergraduate students in other departments at Swarthmore College, with colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania (only a 20-minute drive away), and national and international collaborators.

Postdoctoral Researcher Swarthmore
We invite applications for an experimental research postdoctoral position in the Smith Materials Lab led by Associate Prof. Hillary Smith in the Physics Department at Swarthmore College. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in materials science, physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering or closely related field. Applicants with strong experimental skills and experience in neutron or X-ray scattering are especially encouraged to apply. This DOE-funded position is for a research project aimed at investigating dynamics in glass-forming liquids. Ongoing projects study a variety of glasses including metallic, oxide, molecular, and chalcogenide glasses. Neutron scattering experiments, with a focus on quasielastic and inelastic measurements, are performed at national user facilities, particularly the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to lead the project, collaborate with the PI and undergraduate students on high-impact publications, and present at key conferences in the field. The Smith Materials Lab is an interdisciplinary group of undergraduate students and research staff that thrives on teamwork and welcomes diverse candidates to join us. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a keen interest in developing leadership and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will work closely with undergraduate students at Swarthmore College. Therefore, demonstrated teamwork ability and experience in mentoring is required. The position provides plenty of opportunities to interact with faculty, postdocs, and undergraduate students in other departments at Swarthmore College and with national and international collaborators. This is a limited term position and is on an annual renewal basis.
Temporary - Customer Service Associate Swarthmore
This part time, temporary position for the Swarthmore Campus and Community Store, will assist in order fulfillment and customer support for the store. The temporary position will be needed for around 20 hours per week, from Mid- August through Mid-September and again from Early-January through Early February, exact dates are based on the academic schedule for the College. The pay for this position is $18.50 per hour, which represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting.
Temporary On-Call Production Technician Swarthmore
Swarthmore College, a highly selective liberal arts college, is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The Lang Performing Arts Center (LPAC) integrates the arts into Swarthmore’s curriculum. The space houses many facilities which cater to the needs of the college’s artistic spectrum. The LPAC is versatile in its function: rehearsals, gallery installations, readings, film screenings, classes and performances are all simultaneously hosted within the building, making it a gravitational hub of campus activity. Under supervision, the On-Call Production Technician performs tasks for a variety of programs and events. This person may assist in the load-in, running, and production for performances in the LPAC.
